shareOther posters have given an answer. But most importantly IMO, in the very last frame of the film, he's making some small talk with the woman that works in the convenience store. It's just a small thing, but to Victor that's a big step. After losing his mother, after his world crashing down around him, you get the feeling that Victor is going to be all right.
shareIf you look at it like that, then yes. But I personally didn't like that the woman in the end was quite unattractive, seemed like the typical Shrek kind of thing, where fat guys don't deserve Liv Tylers, but can get their Fionas. I hate that message in the movies. And no I'm not fat ..

Respectfully stated. But one could say that he was engaging in contact with a real person and, indeed, the fact that he can accept her - someone "imperfect" - as someone to chat with, reflects an acceptance of himself.
