What happened to Mrs. Walker after Miles died?

I watched another version of Turn of the Screw and after Miles died, the governess was sent off to a mental institution and had to be replaced after Flora returned to Bly and I wonder if that happened in all of the other versions too including this one.

I know what a horrible ending! Was he really dead? What about his sister? The whole movie felt like a waste of time with that ending.

Miss Jessel's ghost turned Flora against Mrs. Walker when she tried to beg Flora to admit that she is there.
