Harrison Bergeron Vs. Idiocracy

I would say that I prefer Idiocracy. As well as being much more funny than this, I think that it is more realistic (neither of these are very real though). The message in idiocracy that we are doing this to ourselves rings truer than the message in this where it is imposed from without. Most of the humour in this was too heavy hof limp anded, and the dramatic parts felt kind uninspired. Idiocracy also had a very original production design going for it.

You're impossible.

These two movies were cut from very different cloths. HB is based on what's widely perceived to the cause of social dumbing down, but Idiocracy is all about the effect. The cause given in Idiocracy was highly fictionalized and only made sense in-universe.

Angus, you've led a sheltered life if you don't believe the explanation in *IDIOCRACY* for the dumbing-down of America.

That natural selection causes only the dumbest, horniest traits to proliferate, while the intelligent, responsible, sensible traits die out? The scientific data would have to break through that shelter. (I may also have to be an American)
