Joe Chapelle.. is an A**!!

I read in the Triva section he edited out most of Donald's scenes because he found him to be boring.

I personally thought Donald Pleasance was an amazing actor!
Everything he did for the Halloween franchise was fantastic so Joe you can suck it!!

R.I.P Donald.

Glad you got to do this film.. I actually enjoyed H6 a lot. Paul Rudd is one of my favorites and this storyline was a good close to 5 & 6!

Well, you have to look at the big picture. The writing of it, for one. Donald played it as it was written, he was that good, whether he liked it or not. He was that way even in the original. Also, at the time Donald wasn't healthy, he died shortly after initial shooting and maybe got in a few re-shoots, hence the producer's cut.

But in the end, he changed his mind and was more respectful to his performance especially after he died, so he showed class there. Could've stuck to his guns, it's not like Donald would care or retort, he was dead.

He was much nicer about it later on. At the time, though, there were a lot of elements to deal with. Once again, too many cooks in the kitchen having their own vision of things, from producers, director, writer, studio, etc. It had to be frustrating. Then the star dies and you can't shoot more footage, you're stuck. It wasn't the best situation all around.

At the end of the day once I looked more into it, I have to agree with what you're saying.

Just the initial statement in that Trivia section ticked me off. The uncut version, to me is just so much better. And Donald himself was just an amazing actor, playing Loomis or any other characters he had.

But the director should have known about Donald and his acting from the other films, especially if he was doing any history on the film's. I actually likes this movie a lot spite what others say.

Donald even sick was fantastic too and a trooper for working like he did!!

Sorry off subject.. but I agree with what you said. At the end of the day after I read more on it I see a better point of view.

Still it amazes me that he was boring. Sure he was older but it didn't mean he wasn't suspenseful. Joe missed the mark completely.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people find other people boring. Even creatively. Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, John Travolta. Even the old guys like Cary Grant and Clark Gable, who are legends, but their acting style didn't exactly have pep or pizazz. Even Bogart.

So it's okay to not feel the same way about certain actors. Donald was an old English actor who at the time was near death (nearer than even he realized, I would imagine) so to some people that might be boring. Keep in mind it's his first personal experience with the man. Maybe he didn't see the other films he was in or if he did, it might not be his cup of tea. Then again, there's people who rely too much on exciting and not enough "acting" like Vin Diesel or Jason Statham. Anyone can throw a punch, but can't act seriously.

So it works both ways. As I said, he softened his stance later. Admitting you're wrong or first impressions aside is a good thing. It's all relative.

If he did, he never said. I think it was vague on purpose to let the audience decide. Personally, I think it was genetic experiments and a more scientific way of making Michael unkillable rather than curses or supernatural evil.

I feel the same way. To me, Donald made the series, and I can't imagine anyone else as Dr. Loomis. Then again, I've got a thing for both old school and English actors, and I thought Plesance(sp??)was a wonderful actor, and his Old School method of acting, English accent, and the character's frantic obsession with Michael, was the perfect center for the younger American cast.
