So the Strodes happened to move into the old Myers house?

Relatives of the Strode family seen here adopted a daughter who once belonged to the Myers family, whose house they now live in. How's that for an amazing coincidence?

Yeah that's true. I keep forgetting to make the connection that Laurie's Dad, who I guess is the brother of the patriarch in this film, was a real estate salesman who owned the house.

Not necessarily a continuity error. We don't know when they moved into that house between 1989 and 1995. Any time in that 6 years they could've moved in. Who knows where they were living prior to that. Small towns, if they kept to themselves, or maybe the neighbors thought they knew and didn't care.

Look at Amityville. The Lutzes weren't told of the murders, at least not right away, despite what the movie says. The kids certainly didn't know. That's not something you bring up in dinner conversation. So it's plausible that the Dad didn't mention who's house it was and let's face it, it looks different from the first 2 and especially the 5th film. So it doesn't look familiar.

Either way, keeping them in the dark was just an added twist. Even had they known they wouldn't have a say in moving and if they did, the story would be different. So Strodes in the Myers house added more depth and reasoning to Michael killing them.

Dave, I have a legit question about Tommy Doyle in this movie. It's off topic here, so I'll create my own thread, but I'd like your thoughts on some of his behaviors. TIA

Off Topic is ok, just add it to the subject header if people get pissy about it. I don't mind off topic, so shoot.

The scene where Tommy is trying to break the doorknob with the fire extinguisher, when he turns and sees MM, what was the deal with him making that sort of smiling face? Is that supposed to make him seem as if he's still deep down, the same little kid in the H1? Or is there something else to it? I ask because he almost seems awestruck, but that can't be what we're supposed to get from the 2-3 split second facial expressions he has at that moment, right??

Not a coincidence. The super nice dad moved his family into that house because the Strode Reality company was never able to sell it. Then he so graciously allowed his daughter to move back in with that psycho bastard son of hers. *beep* she's lucky to have a father as caring and as nice as him.

That bitch Deborah might as well have just given her all their damn money!!

It really all makes sense when you actually watch the flicks. At least that's what I tell myself. And anyone who'll listen. God I'm bored.

And here take mine while your at it

They moved in shortly before the film took place. Notice not everything is put away yet. That's what Daniel Ferrands said in the commentary

It seems as if this is what happened:

The house never sold for obvious reasons. So thinking Michael Myers was long gone, Laurie's adoptive father gave, or sold beyond dirt cheap, to brother John and also gives him a job (or did he inherit the house and business?).

However, the mystery that still remains:

How is it that nobody in the family except John knows this until Halloween day. Beth knows, but doesn't tell Tim until Halloween night. Nobody says to Debra or Kara "Geez, you're awfully brave to live there." Tommy Doyle, who seems to spend most of his time obsessing over Michael, doesn't go up and say "Umm...you might not want to live here!" Elementary school kids don't tell Danny (remember, they tormented Jamie 10 years or so earlier).
