Brother/Sister lovin'.....

Whats up with the brother/sister lovin and the French. I've seen 3 movies in which there was some kind of incestuous affair going on with a brother and sister and they've all been in French or set in France. I know the French ppl have disgusting habits but brother/sister lovin is just GROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Whether dealing with siblings or any other type, the subject is a fairly common one in literature and film in many countries and cultures. I've noticed that American films tend to treat this kind of thing as schlock-horror (Hillbilly-themed movies) or strictly as goofball humor used for levity and teasing a character (Luke Skywalker kissed his sister! - huge embarrassment and we must never speak of it...).

In non-American cinema, the subject might be examined with a bit more seriousness, though not always to everyone's taste or approval. The Cement Garden; Close My Eyes and Female Perversions each "went there" without being obviously gratuitous. Were any of these great films? I didn't think so.

Agatha Christie touched on sibling love in at least one more of her mystery stories if I recall and , though one of them was set in or near France, the main characters were supposed to be mostly from England originally. In summary, it's not so much a French thing as a non-Hollywood thing. Hollywood only goes that way to poke fun or to shock and outrage. It's not an easy subject or one to support but I resist the idea that it's some kind of "French" thing.

That was hot. It helps that Stephen Dorff and Gabrielle Anwar are both very attractive. 

🐺 Boycott movies that involve real animal violence (& their directors) 🐾
