Incorrectly regarded as goof (maybe)

IMDB has this as a goof:

At school when Dade is looking at Kate's profile information to promote himself to Adv English, Dade's school photo is shown in the new window that is opened on the computer before Dade enters his name.

Here's why I think this scene may be incorrectly regarded as a goof...

I'd like to try to give the film makers the benefit of the doubt. I do agree that I see the window that opens to be already populated by Dade's picture before he types in his name. But the interesting idea here is, it may just be possible that we are seeing what it might look like during an actual hack. What I mean is, Dade may have already started the process of hacking the system and we are seeing the later parts of the hack. Dade may have done this and that on the computer to get to the point where when he opens the window, his picture is already populated. Another clue to suggest that the prepopulated picture is not a goof is to see that when Dade types in his name, the next thing he does isn't to press a search button, it's to drag the info from Kate's profile to his. The more I think about this, the stronger I hope that the film makers made this scene in this way on purpose.

A bit of an odd thing to make a thread about, but I'm glad to see the Hackers board getting some discussion.

As for your theory, it's entirely possible. After all, the whole movie is about the manipulation of computer systems, and after that scene the Phreak finds Dade outside and tells him "he knows he plays the game."

It doesn't mean it is correct.

The goofs and trivia sections would often have near duplicated comments. Often there were two posts that were pointing out the same goof or bit of trivia. What was needed was a merge option so one could combine and edit the two posts. However that would delete someone's contribution to the site and if they noticed they would have gotten upset about it.
