H20: Hackers 20 Years later.

Mess with the best, die like the rest....

Today would be the day it came out in the US back in 1995....

When was the first time you seen it?

For me was in Jr. High in a PC repair class back around 97 or 98.... The Teacher fast forwarded some of the scenes like the Hacking montages lol!

I dunno always been a cult favorite. Me and some Friends will quote it or over analyze it and make fun of certain aspects.

Like the way the Plague is setup seems like it was for a younger Actor with all the candy and skate boarding and stuff. Don't get me wrong Fisher Stevens is awesome.

The film is watchable and just sorta fun fluff.

With that....

HACK THE PLANET!

I love this movie, probably out of nostalgia reasons because it isn't very good, 20 years later.

The first time I saw this was on VHS in 1996. I remember wanting to see it a lot ever since I heard about it in 1995 (I was 14 at the time). After finally watching it, I was amazed. The movie blew my mind, mostly because I was fascinated with "hackers" and what someone could do in a technical field.

The movie inspired me into learning about computers and the IT field.

If you view the film as a Fantasy on Hackers and such then it's more enjoyable.

If you were a Teen in 95 and seen it I'm sure you dug it. That's what the film was made for.... Not really to show how the Hacking scene actually is....

Even though it got some things right....

Nothing wrong with enjoying this film. Like a good plate of Nachos with just the right amount of cheese. 😉

The only part to me that was really ridiculously ridiculous was the Gibson server room but visually it was nice to look at. 😎

The problem is that if you are going into a film called Hackers and expecting a serious film on the subject you'll be disappointed.

I think the film holds up well. Then again I like cheese ball films so.... Yeah.

WarGames which was filmed 12 years earlier holds up better then this film does.

No it doesn't. Not even close, as far as hacking is concerned anyways.

If you were into hacking or computers back then, it's a great movie. Yeah, a bunch of it is garbage. But it has to be, because hacking is not very entertaining. This is a great movie first and foremost, and a great hacking movie second.

I think it still holds up just fine today. I like it every bit as much as I did the first time I saw it. Precisely because it isn't a boring, but accurate, hacking movie.

I saw it in the theater the moment I could. Terrible date movie, by the way, at least for an awkward kid who was more interested in computers and Angelina Jolie than the girl who was sitting next to him.

I first saw this probably in like 1996 I was 11.. I specifically remember going to my moms house one weekend (my parents were divroced) and renting it.. It was funny back then I used to think I was a hacker I'd download all kinda text files off the net and read them and like dial into telenet or whatever and think I was hacking lol. But yeah I loved this movie.. I'm watching it right now and I still love it.. Althogh it is incredibly goofy (the rollerblading, oh, the rollerblading lol).. But I like the 90s electronic music and I think the movie does have a cool style to it...etc. And I like this generation of actors from the 90s A LOT more than this new younger generation of actors.. It was the last generation of actors that kinda had a little "edge" to them and kinda seem like real people or whatever..lol all the young actors nowadays I see are all like pretty boys...etc... But thats also cause I'm a little older and starting to hate new things.. turning into my parents lmao.

The first time I saw it was with a group of my friends at the theater. We tried to get in to see a R rated movie, can't remember which one. They wouldnt sell us the tickets so we got tickets to see hackers instead. We ended up loving this movie. I have probably seen it over 100 times in the last 20 years

I saw it after it came out once it was on video so it probably wasn't until 96, I was 5 years removed from high school but I was young enough to still feel like I was in high school so I connected with it. Love it, watch it all the time still, the soundtrack is what makes it for me. It's a fun movie.
