'We live, as we dream - alone.' was said by...

In the movie, Sam says in a voice over conversation between him and Anna the line "We live, as we dream - alone." and asks Anne who said it. When she said that he did, he says, "No, it's a quote from someone." For those who are wondering who it was that said it, the line was originally said by Joesph Conrad, author of "Nostromo" and the short "Heart of Darkness" (both of those titles themselves have become film history, the name "Nostromo" is used in the movie "Alien" and "Heart of Darkness" was made into the film "Apocolypse Now").

Excellent observation Codebreaker, thank you for mentioning it! I didnt remember that being from Joseph Conrad, but its been years since reading his work at University :P

"Are you righteous? Kind? Does your confidence lie in this? Are you loved by all? Know that I was, too. Do you imagine your suffering will be any less because you loved goodness and truth?" - Corporal Fife, in Malicks' philosophical masterpiece 'The Thin Red Line' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120863/)
