Ambiguous

This is the best kind of horror film - in the end, it's unclear if there are vampires or just drunks. It reminds me of "Martin", except in the end, I'm pretty sure they're not vampires.

This movie did share some similarities with Martin. That Ambiguous feel wether Anna is a vampire or not. This is a really great movie. I caught this awhile back in my old apartment on IFC. It really captures that desolate, depressing mood.I highly recommend this movie to anybody that's open to watch something interesting.

Is there anything similar to this movie, it doesn't necessarily have to relate to horror. That depressing feel with no happy endings about a lonely person trying to make it through in life, but with no happy ending to it.

I love this movie for its ambiguity and atmosphere. Two similar films in tone would be Let's Scare Jessica to Death and Mulberry Street. The former is about a NYC women who has just been released from a mental hospital and moves to the country where she may, or may not, be having a breakdown again. It also has a character who may, or may not, be a vampire. Mulberry Street, although very different in story, shares a very similar atmosphere with Habit in that its shot in NYC with great use of hand held cameras giving it that 'slice of life' feel. Fessenden actually has a great cameo in Mulberry Street where his character cravenly takes refuge in a subway entrance and refuses to let anyone else in.

Requiem for a Dream comes to mind. All of their endings suck pretty hard. Addiction and the self-destruction it brings ...

"Martin" is an excellent comparison here.

This is a movie about urban misfits who are most certainly substance-addicted and quite possibly mentally ill. I doubt they were really vampires also (not that I really believe in them anyway ... or do I?).

I like the ambiguity and bleakness of this film, which feels a lot more like real life than most big-budget yawners. This film could have used some tighter scripting or editing, but those are quibbles.
