The Book

As a kid, I read the book The Great Mom Swap by Betsie Haynes I believe. But it differed greatly from the movie. In the book the two girls were best friends, around 12 or 13 who lived in Texas. One was blonde and short and the other was brunnette and tall. The brunnette (her name was Lorna) had a crush on a boy that liked the blonde. The blonde had a crush on Lorna's big brother. He was tall and muscular and wore a cowboy hat and boots and dated older girls (he was like 16). The girls decided one day to swap families, which was a dream come true for the blonde who was in love with the big bro and a dream for Lorna to be away from her large annoying family and be an only child for once. Has anyone else read this book?

No, but the movie sounds much better.

I remember reading that book a long long time ago, and you're right, it is very different from the movie. I mean, I never thought that the movie was based on this book, even though the concept was more or less the same. Perhaps the titles were just coincidental?

I loved this book when I was in grade school...our elementary school library had it. I was around 10 when this movie came out on tv, so I made sure to set the VCR to record it...I actually still have it on a VHS at home. I watched it years later, and it's actually not a bad movie.

I like each of them on their own, though I do prefer the movie over the book.
