Babe or gordy

Babe hands down.

Of course Babe is a superior movie, for many reasons but especially because it doesn't do that time old tradition in children's movies of making the adults act stupid. While Gordy unfortunately does do that, it is still an adorable, touching, super sweet movie, and I hope all chidren get a chance to see it-they would love it, it was made JUST for them. That's another big difference, I think Babe was made more for adults. Still, Gordy is great, and heart breaking. The father pig being taken away and yelling 'I love you' to Gordy as he chases the truck screaming 'daddy, daddy', the mother pig telling her pigglets that it is going to be all right even though she knows that they're in a slaughter house - I was bawling!! Babe is one of the best movies ever made (there is a reason it was nominated for an Academy Award), but Gordy is cute, sweet, and I KNOW your kids will love it...you might enjoy it, too. Just remember, it was made especially for kids. : )

"I never even knew this movie existed! Did Disney see the Babe script and steal the idea? I bet Babe was pitched to them and they rejected it because it wasn't mainstream enough -- but they still wanted to do the idea, so they made their own *beep* version."

Nope. Gordy was filmed and edited two years before Babe (in 1993); but was never released. It sat on the shelf until Babe was released, which give the producers some bargaining power to sell Gordy to a studio for distribution. (Which I guess was Disney.) I was an extra on Gordy; and I never heard Disney mentioned the whole time I was on set. (Three days.) Tom Lester (from "Green Acres") was supposed to be the money man behind Gordy - he also played a part in the film. Gordy was shot in the Atlanta area, with some additional scenes filmed in Branson, Missouri. Tom Key and Ted Manson (Ted died earlier this year) are/were big in Theater in Atlanta. There are a lot of Atlanta actors filling secordary roles in this film. Of course Doug Stone was from Newnan, Georgia, which is a town just outside Atlanta.

Actually Gordy, was conceived all the way back in the 1970s as a spin off of Green Acres. For unknown, it spent the next 20 years in development hell.

i grew up on both movies

i have to say they were equal when i was a kid, but now, if i was to watch gordy i would probably do it just for sentimental reasons, i wouldn't really find it entertaining, but babe is far less embarrassing to show to someone and say "look i watched this as a kid!" so yeah babe is way better but gordy will forever be in my heart as what i watched as a kid :)
