No need at all for a remake. The only Bond film that needed a remake, which it got, was Casino Royale, the first of which was a farce written by Woody Allen. They remade Thunderball as Never Say Never Again, and it was like a photocopy of the first film.

And Goldeneye ITSELF was remade as a Bond story set in the Daniel Craig era, except it was a video game adaptation (GoldenEye 007: Reloaded)
And a video game adaptation is not a remake.
And Never Say Never . . . was a rehashing of an original script, was not made under the broccoli auspices and was not titled Thunderball.
