Trash

I watched this movie because of all the great reviews from G fan sites that I read. I don't want to rehash everything I wrote (read my user comments for that), but to sum it up, this movie was atrocious...the worst G flick I've ever seen...the only redeeming quality was G's death scene. The plot, special effects, acting, monster fighting, EVERYTHING, sucked about this movie. I can't believe all the great reviews I read...what a waste of film. GINO is more enjoyable than this.

What are you talking about? GINO sucked out loud! That movie was a real waste of film, not Godzilla vs. Destoryah! They only named GINO Godzilla just to make more money! That's why they made Godzilla 2000.

CHECK OUT MY THREAD CALLED ALTERNATE ENDING!!!

I agree. This movie, like all G movies, has its weak moments (The Destroyers that are obviously little plastic models on tracks like slot cars in the wide shots for instance) but overall its a good effort. Destroyer is a unique monster and its life cycle allows for cool action scenes with the actual humans who are usually religated to standing in the distance making witty comments.

I think too many people approach G movies with a Star Wars lens. Toho movies are not billion dollar affairs (and BTW, make money at a higher rate due to that) and you can't expect Detroyer to be a great as Jar Jar Binks :-)!

The Last form of Desutoroia is one of the best monster series seeing it rise out of the power factory is one of the best sceens in the movie

reply

yea seriously, if u think this movie sucked and had sucky acting, FX, then try godzilla vs the sea monster or godzilla vs gigan or godzilla vs megalon. belive me this movie's FX and story are awesome compared to most of the G films.

i love that scene where destroyah is back lit with red light, wings outstretched, like a vision of satan in hell.

and for some reason, i got pumped up when godzilla is overloading, and is tearing the ultra powerful destroyah apart, someone exclaims "what a monster!"
awesome!
i have loved godzilla since i was in preschool, when WPIX (now the WB) would run a thanksgiving marathon every year.

The Destroyer was pure trash on tracks. I mean, they could have done a better job than that. It was embarrising. Plus the monster was silly-looking, had no emotional attach at all to it.

reply

The destroyer did look at times like it was a solid base with a moving head, arms and wings moving to and fro. But, I gotta agree about when Godzilla goes berzerk and just starts ripping into D. Especially the part where he's walking up to D and blasts his death breath into him. The shaking of the head made him look so f'n angry! I'm not a Treky. But, It reminded me of when Kirk goes "KHAAAAAAAN". That raw anger feel. This movie rocked.

I'm the dude...so that's what you call me, you know?

Good point, Controller.
I love this film too, mostly for the emotion attached to Godzilla, but I could've done without the rollerskating Junior marionette or the bandai destoroyahs. At least the meltdown scene looks awesome.

Godzilla vs. Destroyer is without a doubt the greatest Godzilla film ever. And to the person who set this up, You yourself are trash

reply

Godzilla vs Destroyah was one of the BEST Godzilla movies. I loved every moment of it. The effects were pretty good too.

YOU are trash.

The showa series has left a taint in the minds of americans about Godzilla series forever.

ok...great comeback...moron .

Anyway...just wanted to revisit a thread I started 2 years ago. Since then I've popped this movie in on occasion and I still think, IMHO, that it really does suck. I never said I liked GINO...I only said I like it better than this one (which ain't sayin' much). I've enjoyed the original Godzilla film (original Japanese version) and others such as Godzilla 2001, G vs. Megaguirus, GMK:GMAOA, and of course all the cheesy 70's ones. G vs. Destoroyah is supposed to be serious but is so unintentionally cheesy I just get bored watching it.

Either way, glad to read everyone's opinion (except yours darth homo...you can kiss my green, radioactive ass)

Godzilla films I like are GMK, Godzilla 2000, Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, Gojira (the original). Look, I like Godzilla, but I'm no authority. While the movies are enjoyable they are far from being "fine films" (the original being an exception). They all have silliness and nonsense to a degree ...I just thought this particular film was particularly bad. The ones from the 60's are always good for a laugh

As far as films in general, the list goes on and on.
