UHHH Cringe worthy singing

Im a huge fan of jenifer Jason leigh but dear god why did she sing ? The take me back performance I had to hold my ears , it was horrible . She should stick to acting !

The point of her character is she's a bad singer. Should the vocals have been dubbed in?

ok troll thanks for your little nasty comment

WarpedRecord takes the time to give a legitimate answer to your rather dumb question and you call him (or her) a troll? Give us a break!

you're a troll , if you do not have something nice to say shut your mouth

In all seriousness, she was supposed to be bad. That's why her sister tells her afterwards that she can't sing.

Why did they drag out her performance of the van Morrison song like she sounded good , it was terrible , they should have cut the singing segments short

I think the whole intent of the scene was actually to make you feel uncomfortable, unnerved, and even somewhat embarrassed for Sadie. It can make you feel simultaneously sorry for her and yet touched and inspired by her passion. It would not have had that effect if they cut it down and just made it seem like she did just fine.

Personally, it is my favorite performance in the movie!

Umm...she always has stuck to acting. I do not think JJL ever had the slightest thoughts of pursuing a singing career. She was acting the part of a train wreck of a singer and human being who was not supposed to be ultra talented...and some might argue that she portrayed the part brilliantly.

She's admitted in interviews that she is a bad singer and wanted to be in a movie like this because of that reason. She was absolutely suitable and perfect in this role.
