Under 'Alternate Versions' it says the original ending was edited and changed for the American release. What was edited and changed? Could someone tell me, PLEASE?
Sometimes when you know about different endings, they suit the movie better.
I have a strong feeling I am missing something I would have enjoyed seeing.

I'm French and just finished watching the original French version. I have no idea what American censorship would have done to the ending, but I can understand it could have been changed, as it is very politically incorrect, very French ;-)

Marijo came back with her baby to live at Laurent and Loli's place, and all three live what seem to be in perfect harmony. Laurent visit a large house with the idea to buy it. We can guess it is to have more room for his extended family. He meet there the seller of the house Pedro, a beautiful Spanish man, and we fell there is something starting between them. A "coup de foudre", or love at first sight. It is only suggested, but it seems to be the start of a homosexual relation between Laurent and Pedro. Pedro says he will be back in a week, and Laurent say he will wait for him. Again, only suggested. It is the final twist for the story.

I just watched this for my Film course at uni and am assuming the version we watched was the 'American' one. The ending is exactly as you have just described unless we both watched the French one and there is one with a different ending floating out there!!! Now I'm curious someone tell us!!!

I watched a French language version with English subtitles and BBFC classification. The ending was the same (except I thought the Spanish guy's name was Diego).

I am amazed no one else has responded to this in 5 years. The alternative ending version actually ends before the versions everyone is talking about. It merely shows the main guy going to the door of the Spanish guys place and they just say hello to each other and then it ends.
There are also two versions of subtitles. I found the version used (at least at the time) with the longer version to be less desirable. For example, when the main guy is living in the house with the two women, he says "tense, what is tense" or "uncool, what is uncool". Tense was a much better word for the situation not uncool which just means not nice. There were a few other changes that were not good either but I can't recall what they were.
When I first saw this movie, I thought it was hilarious. The 2nd time (with the poor subtitles) I still liked it a lot. I can't believe IMDB users only give it 6.2. I gave it 8/10 myself.

At the end, the two men walk away from the breakfast table, and are seen from a distance walking next to each other, and then they French kiss and walk away. The credits roll up.

Now why would they censor this one last scene and not the rest of the movie, makes no sense to me...
They censored all gay male references because of patriachy. Patriarchy is comfortable watching two women have sex, and fetishises it, but two men having sex or any sort of hint to a romance, is forbidden and needs to be edited out.
shareCensorship is wrong, but I remember, as much as I enjoyed the movie, that ending made no sense, it was totally out-of-character to have him immediately fall in love with that guy. Granted he learned a lesson or two about tolerance and all that stuff, but I don't think something as deeply rooted as sexuality can evolve 'just like that'. I don't think a man would feel attracted to another man just because his wife was attracted to a woman... it's not impossible, but given the way Chabat's character was written, it seemed highly implausible and just a twist for a twist...

I haven't seen the uncut version for a while but if I remember correctly the differences are:
- Diego swims naked in the pool, his bum is visible in the shot.
- He toasts to Laurent saying "Salut i força al canut!", a typical Catalan expression. Laurent looks baffled and Diego explains the meaning, "Health and strength to the dick", while using his fist to gesture the meaning.
- As people also said, they are seen French kissing from a distance.
