Shusuke Kaneko is a marvelous director

Wow, I was just stunned when I first saw Gamera: Guardian of the Universe and completely blown away when viewing Gamera: Revenge of Iris.

In this film, it's pretty amazing what Shusuke Kaneko managed to do. Did you know that he put together this blockbuster with only half of the budget used in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla. That's why some of the special effects aren't perfect.

But he still manages to entertain us. And he created an interesting human part of the story, which is pretty rare in a kaiju film. And Gyaos is definately looking better than he did back in his debut film.

(I know this thread is kind of old)

Buy yes, I totally agree. Kaneko is a fantastic director, who works very well with small budgets.

Again, I know nobody has used this thread for four months, but Kaneko is a master. He's one of those rare directors who can stay in touch with the human element even in the middle of so much vivid special effects and monster combat.

Kaneko is the best kaijuu director since Ishiro Honda and all i need to defend that is three letters: GMK.

I agree. Kaneko did an excellent job with this film. It was very brisk, tense, and exciting all the way through.

Kaneko is the only director to work on all three Big Guys in Japan; Godzilla, Gamera, & Ultraman
