I think the Soldiers and 'Mother' Legion (GAMERA 2) are some of the most fantastic-looking creatures I've seen in a kaiju film - even more so because they're so beautifully articulated despite their size and unweildiness! Gamera being stormed and swarmed over by the Soldiers is such a wonderful, creepy image...

Same here. I think they hold better detail then the goofy Gauss birds with
thier flat heads.

Most ridiculous opponent: Baragon's rainbow power would have to go up against the absolute silliness of Guiron, the knife-headed creature who shoots shuriken-type stars out of the side of his head.

Toughest opponent: Legion. No doubt.

Coolest opponent: Irys. Beautiful kaiju. Better design than any of Godzilla's opponents as well - except for Ghidorah who is the greatest nemesis kaiju in all of monsterdom.

I'll take Gyaos too. I thought Gyaos was a he.

Gyaos was asexual.

As for me, I'd choose Legion...what a sweet looking Kaiju!!

Gyaos is definately the classic arch villain to Gamera. For character purposes I'll go with him.

But my second favorite is actually Barugon. He was well animated for that time. Kind of creepy.

Guiron is awesome!

He has a knife for a head and shoots ninja stars.

I'd love to see him fight Gigan. Battle of the blade monsters.

I'll go with Legion as it's the most original that isn't campy even if it bares some clear reuse of ideas from Destoroyah from Godzilla vs Destoroyah one year earlier.....though my other favourite would have to be Guiron, I mean as tacky as he is you've gotta live a monster with a knife for a head that shoots shurikens.

Gyaos was always my favorite. Really evil looking and emits a destructive ray and makes a terrifying screech. I like the original Gaos how he looked as well as Space Gyaos. However the one in the 1995 Gamera film was cool also. Have not seen the film with the hyper gaos yet though.

A close second was Barugon. Who can forget the freeze ray he emits or the rainbow. Plus he looks really cool for the time that he came out. Just not that smart.

I haven't watched it either as I can;t find it anywhere, but based on the general kaiju-loving public, its considered one of the best kaiju films of all time.

BOT, my favourite is Legion. She looks really awesome, and personally, the strongest of Gamera's enemies.

I really like the way Zigra looks, and Guiron is so cool because he's so ridiculous.

Haven't seen Iris yet, and I don't even know what the design looks like (I want the first reveal to be a surprise) so I can't comment on that
