I haven't seen this film, but does anyone else think it's truly bizarre that one of the worst rated films at IMDB recommends Donnie Darko if you liked it? Going off what I've read, it seems like there's no comparison between the two!
shareI've seen both fims and I must say there is absolutely NO similarity between these two films. Different genres, different overall quality, different caliber actors.
The ONLY reason I'm glad Future War exists is because it was used for an episode of MST3K, a fate is was positively born for. I've seen both the MST and non-MST versions and Future War is truly abysmal without the MST crew.
Donnie Darko appeals to an entirely different audience. I think this is mainly due to the fact that it's a GOOD MOVIE.
Even if Future War was everything it attempted to be, a sci-fi action thriller, it would appeal to a vastly different audience than the sci-fi drama Donnie Darko.
I do agree with the reviewer that the makers of Future War put forth a valiant effort, but sometimes even the most valiant effore can be doomed to failure.
Still, I thank them for providing us with the fodder for an episode of one of the best TV shows ever.

Then again, if you enjoyed "Future War," you might also enjoy eating your own tongue while having a sandblaster jammed up your ass.

just today i stumbled across one that recommends "Ewoks: Battle for Endor" if you enjoyed the dark and intense adult drama "Interiors", by Woody Allen. Maybe a mixup with the Darko/Ewoks.
Incidentally, "Future War is a better film than either of the Ewoks TV movies, because it doesn't have that unbelievably annoying girl with the curly blonde locks called Sindel or something.
Okay, man, Annoying Girl makes that movie the best. There's a part in battle for endor where some kind of evil force of bad guys is beating the crap out of the ewok village. Annoying Girl runs with the ewok(wikkit?) into the village to find her mother and brother. One of the 'evil invasion force' smashes her in the head with a club as she's running straight at him. She tumbles down a hill and gets straight back up. I laughed so hard at that part of the movie and watched it over and over about 10 times. Without that one part that movie would have been really really really crap. Instead of just Really Really crap.
