Cost of Education Degree: $20,000
Cost of Medical Degree: $120,000
Teacher Salary: $55,000/yr
Doctor Salary: $100,000
So, let's assume they are 30 years old in this movie, and they both started College at age 18. She has been in the work force for 8 years, so she's made $440,000, paid off her student loans, netted $420,000. He's been in the work force for 3 years, so he's made $300,000, and probably hasn't even made a dent in his student loans.
Just a logistical answer. Plus doctors are notoriously horrible with their finances.
