Why didn't they set fire to the oil in the water.


Wouldn't that have been much easier to burn off all the oil then doing all that back breaking work. The fire probably would have burned for days, but at least it be all gone once the fire was out.

Yah good idea!

Then all that smoke gets in the atmosphere and we get acid rain, devastating pollution, and a new meaning to the destruction of our ozone.

But wait...didn't that happen anyway? The oil started to burn, and we did see that all the oil was in a big patch spreading out...so it's logical to assume that the fire spread everywhere where there was oil. So you'd get your acid rain, devestating pollution and destruction of the ozone :P
