there's some weird stuff the bellhop brings with the block of wood and the hatchet.. that is the ball of twine and the 3 nails... does anyone know what were they supposed to do with those ?

The ball of twine and three nails were mean to anchor his hand to the block of wood, in case he changed his mind. But Norman decided to just hold his hand on the wood himself without them.

Please! What would I want with your brain?

thanks a lot :) .. i watched it again and saw something i missed the first time : when Ted shows every item Norman asks "why 3 nails" and Chester says "'cause this is what Steve McQueen asked for".
