DVD has windowboxing

I just purchased the Four Rooms dvd and it is supposed to be widescreen 1.85:1. I am getting windowboxing on the dvd, the picture is widescreen but has horizontal and vertical black bars. Is it just me or did I get a fullscreen disc in the widescreen box?

Press the "view mode" button on your TV remove until it shows it as 1.85:1 and then compare it with the other modes to make sure you aren't losing information on the screen. And check the back of the DVD to see if it says widescreen or fullscreen.
