Finally!

I've been looking for this film for forever, not knowing what the title was! I just knew the main character's name sounded like the sister from Little House on the Prairie. So I typed it into the chatacter box here on IMDB and with an alternate spelling it came up. I only caught the last part on tv some time back and hoped I could see the whole thing sometime.
