I'm descended from Phebe Cunningham, who was kidnapped by Indians in 1785. The Indians had killed her first four children. She was ransomed after three years and was able to get back to her husband, and they had seven more children.
shareI'm happy to hear that they were reunited, but it's so sad that her children were murdered. I want to do more research about this era. My dad was part Cherokee, but another ancestor from a different line of his was scalped by Indians yet survived. He was Irish and his last name was Wood.
