I was so bored...

Did anyone else really got bored at this movie???
it wasn't what i expected,i couldn't wait to end,
i only like some particular scenes

reply

I was sad when it ended. It was a really slow, beautiful, cute, sad movie. Lots of emotions played with, which is just how I like an Almodovar movie. I was pleasantly suprised.

reply

I agree, i watched it last night and have to say it was quite slow and certainly not one of his best films. It did have some nice shots in it and some touching emotion, but overall fairly under par.

I agree; though I wasn't totally bored, it is my least favorite Almodovar film so far. Don't know why it's rated better than "Atame!," which I thought was much stronger. Atame! was cheekier, more over the top (Almodovar's great at over-the-top), better paced, had better characters, a better story, was better visually, etc.

My Almodovar ratings:

Hable con Ella 10/10
Carne Tremula 9/10
Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios 9/10
Volver 9/10
Atame! 8/10
La Mala Educacion 8/10
Todo Sobre mi Madre 7/10
La Flor de mi Secreto 5/10

I've had trouble getting hold of his other films but I think I've seen the most important ones.

I completley disagree this was a charming film, excellent dialogue, beautiful cinematography and great acting - as a new Almodovar fan (I first saw Volver last summer and since have been working my way back) it's great to see his progression and also try to figure where I had seen those familiar faces. One of his best.

reply

Sorry, but I honestly thing this is one of Almodovars best films. Marisa Paredes, Rossy de Palma and Chus Lampreave are delicious. Very touching ilm.

yeah, maybe a bit long, but really fantastic! if you've found this boring, Volvèr must have killed you eheheh

reply

no i think that volver is a great movie!i liked it very very much!

I really liked "The Flower of my Secret"-it was intelligent and very funny, in a subtle way. Leo's anxieties were amusing and touching at the same time. It certainly different from Almodovar's other films, though. I would also think that this film is not geared towards a teenaged/young adult audience (though some might appreciate it)

reply

Almodovar is terribly overrated.

Habla con Ella was outstanding. Volver was good thanks to great performances by Penelope et al. But other than that, his work is a disappointment.

You're a total freak. Geezus. You have no taste whatsoever.

It's time for a backlash against digital photography, motion pictures, music, sfx

It's really tedious. A complete waste of time.

Not me. One of Almodóvar's best IMHO.

As always, a great cast, and a VERY good performance by Marisa Paredes

There is BTW a good summing-up by José Arroyo on the Region 2 Optimum DVD.

10/10

Almodóvar boring? Never. He is one of the most *consistently* exciting film-makers in the world.

reply

"La flor de mi secreto" was Pedro's most serious work to date. However at the same time it's also the least exciting and the most soapy and corny.
I found it quite boring for Almodóvar standards. Anyway I am sure many women would find this movie more interesting and deep.
