Let's sum up this movie, good and bad
First, the bad. Half of the actors in this thing suck. I've said it before, and I'll say it now: Gary Daniels is one of the worst actors to ever step in front of a camera. Regardless of how good or bad anyone else is in his movies, he can't friggin' act worth a [bleep]. A lot of the actors in here aren't much better. Two exceptions: Isako Washio (Julia) actually does a good job with her role, I found her believable and almost touching; and Chris Penn (Jackel), a bit hammy at times but overall does pretty well for what he has to work with.
The effects are pretty cheap, but that's what you expect from a straight-to-video martial arts movie (yes, this had some theatre time in Japan but not here in the States). One compliment is that they did manage to pull off the feeling of the world after a holocaust.
Now, the good. Though Gary Daniels cannot act, his prowess as a martial artist is stunning. I've seen some of his other films, and this one has some of the best fight scenes he's ever done, period. As a martial arts student myself, I can say that his technique is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The action sequences are fantastic all across the board.
The summary: good for mindless action, nothing else.
End of report.
