If they ever decided to do a remake of Fist of the North Star, which I think they shouldn now, who would you like to see in the movie?

Kenshiro - I did think Daniels did an almost great job as Kenshiro, but if he doesn't return, then maybe Robin Shou (Mortal Kombat) could play the part, or perhaps newcomer Tony Jaa!! Whoever the actor is, he must be chosen wisely for this very serious and important role. A friend of mine suggested Tom Welling could do it perhaps. I don't know how, except though I do see that Tom resembles Kenshiro a bit from the mangas I have which Kenshiro has blue eyes, even in some of the anime's he has blue eyes.

Julia/Yulia - Zhang Ziyi

Shin - Travis Fimmel (Tarzan) I only suggest this because he has the looks down a bit.

Rao - Dave Batista

Zeed - Bill Goldberg, or if you want somebody really tall Paul White/Big Show

Lynn - Dakota Fanning

Ryuken - Pat Moritta

dave batista as roah hahahahaha that is a good one though daves acting on raw is a bit phoo like
i did like the dakota fanning as lynn a good touch

however i want to talk about the 1995 version of the fist of the north star
did the director fall asleep during the great manga classic becouse he indeed forgot about roah (the true fist of the north star) he kicked kens ass he kicked shins and rays and everyone else who was anybodys ass
he also forgot about jagi which i thought chriss penn was for a while but he kept on calling himself the jackel
the director should be shot and i agree a new version should be remade as componsation

There is a Raoh casted on the 1995 version, I'm just not sure who he is though.

tony jaa, straight up! while ordinarily, i detest the idea of casting wrestlers in anything serious cinema(especially dave cardboard cutout batista) hows about nathan jones for raoh? i likes dakota fanning, i likes goldberg, i'm thinking matt mcconaughey for jagi (have you seen reign of fire?), i gotta go gordon liu for ryuden pai mei like a MOFO!!

I should think she would have the sense to stay away from a likely atrocity like a remake of this film...

let's face it people: Fist can't be done live action. it's asking too much of Hollywood.

Tony Jaa would kill it on this movie..... now that cgi animation is so much better now i think they could make an alomst carbon copy of the anime which would be awesome!

They have, sort of - There's Shin Hokuto No Ken (*New* Fist of the North Star) and the animation is great, but it's really terrible... They fail to recognise what made the original anime/manga (not counting the anime film, which I thought was pretty terrible too..) so great. Still, if you're a fan, worth watching.

There also seems to be a new Japanese film in production, 'Rao gaiden' (Rao side-story), http://www.hokuto-no-ken.jp/ - The site doesn't work properly in my browser, so can't really tell much about it... Could be good though!

Jaaaaa Hokuto no Ken Rao Gaiden trailer looks great!

What about Ralph Moeller for Rao. He even looks like Rao IMO!

I think could of made a great shin Christopher Lambert

The way Shin was dressed at the end made me think of Christopher Lambert
in the first mortal combat.

You know, Buronson's main influence for Kenshiro came from Bruce Lee and later from Sylvestor Stallone. You can see a major difference between his earlier artwork with the leaner, more agile Ken and his later works with the bulkier, more muscle-bound Ken.

Just watch movies like Over the Top to see the uncanny similarities with Kenshiro in Hokuto No Ken. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLt6FFPviPM for an example.

Too bad Stallone is too old now for the role, as he would have been perfect in the mid to late 80s.

Yeah you are right, he does look like Kenshiro in this but I would prefer someone with martial arts skills too! You are right about Kenshiro being like Bruce Lee and that was the reason I chose Donnie Yen who is quite muscular and also fights like Bruce Lee in some of his films. Hmmm. Come to think of it, I can see Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama in "Battlestar Galactica") as non-Asian Kenshiro, but the funny thing is he would resemble Mad Max even more than Ken. :P

Christian Bale is still my #1 choice for Kenshiro in a non-asian live-action movie of Fist of the North Star. He has the perfect acting ability and the skills for it, just take a look at Equilibrium and Batman Begins!

Bale makes more sense, because Tony Jaa looks nothing like Kenshiro! People on this thread need to stop suggesting that he be Ken, it doesn't make any sense!

Actually, I would prefer it if Japanese filmmakers made this movie and NOT Hollywood. I really don't want one of my all time favorite manga/anime's to take a second devastating blow in the film market industry like to Gary Daniel's.

If there was an American filmmaker who could respect the manga and anime and make a great movie out of this, then my casting choice would be Donnie Yen for Kenshiro (see Dragon Tiger Gate and you'll know what I mean!) and Miranda Otto for Yuria/Julia.

i know this thread is old like hell and i am going to revive it, if they make a new movie it should a be a strict japanese movie.
