question

well there are no discussions at all in here but what the hell... i just watched this and i liked it. but there was one scene that i didn't get clearly. after valerie's interview, she started to smile and laugh uncontrollably, and i don't get exactly why. is it because the woman was telling her she was pretty? or did i miss something?
