There's NO unedited DVD???

Okay, so I had the second movie, and I wanted the first. Amazon customer reviews made it sound like the Simitar release (the original DVD release) was unedited. But I hunted a copy down--and it is ALSO edited. and according to imdb, the DVD version is 10 minutes shorter than the original cut! So sad.

Amazon is offering a Collector's Edition which claims 96 min. run time, the same as the VHS tape. Is this a misrepresentation?

reply

that's why I'm so confused. some of the reviewers are calling that the "A-Pix" version. Amazon has the studio listed as "Allumination". is it the same company? If anyone has the edition listed on Amazon as the "allumuniation" edition, could you please let us know if it's edited? Thanks

Yeah I noticed the DVD was censored too. Like for example, when the painter is going to the paint the chick then she unbuttons her top and BAM it's 10 feet outta the room. Then She's in the bath, he looks over at the and BAM the chicks are chasing him down the stairs. It's soo goddamn annoying.

Personally, THE FEAR Is an okay movie, but the VHS (uncensored)made it better.

exactly what you said. The censored editing is atrocious. the entire movie falls apart.

reply

Yeah, and that's strange because I have the APIX VHS and that one isn't censored. Wierd...

I bought myself a video capture card for my computer for the sole purpose of putting my video of The Fear onto a DVD.
I can't believe the DVD is hacked up so much to the point of it not making any sense. Why the hell make a physical cut when someone swears????

I rented the Collector's Edition DVD from Blockbuster Online. It doesn't seem like a collector's edition at all. The menu is just ugly and hard to navigate. The only special feature is the filmography and that's it. The movie was alright though, but the sound wasn't very good.

Exactly what was cut out of this film?It could'nt be gore and violence because I worked for John Buechler on this film and the only make-up effects that we did for this was the Morty character and the old age make-up for Ann Turkel but it ended up on her stand in instead "Ask me about that sometime".

unfortunately, I've never seen the unedited version so I couldn't tell you. All I know is, the DVD version is a hack job--it's quite apparent.

Okay I know this is an old post but this explains a lot.

I just watched it for the first time in several years. Got it off Netflix.

I'm watching and I'm like "wait a tic, there was a longer sequence here and here..and there." And then I thought I was going crazy but after reading this post it sounds like they really cut down the dvd version.

I had seen it originally on tape and it wasn't edited.
