When its raining....?

After George finsihes his mid-life crisis make-over and comes home, it is clear as day not a cloud in the sky, I digress. Could someone please explain why the ceiling is leaking if they are covered by another floor? If you look the whole kitchen is covered, it is not sticking out in any way. Am I missing something? As I rewrite this I am now concerned with his car, however not that concerned.
