Can somebody please tell me how Yellow Dog got off the island after he fell off the log? This seems to be a glaring omission, but nobody here has mentioned it, so maybe I'm missing something. Weren't Angus and Yellow stranded on an ISLAND? Didn't we keep seeing aerial views of it from the rescue planes and helicopters?
shareIf you remember at one time Angus tells the dog that he has a sixth sense and allows the dog to guide them, hoping he can take them home. From that line, I understood the ending to mean that the dog used his sixth sense to find his way home. Animals have done that in the past, traveling hundreds of miles, using their uncanny sense.

Two, they are in, obvious, thick wooded wilderness of Canada.
Three, Yellow is a fighter and knows how to survive. Remember, he was on his own when he came to be with Angus, so he knows a thing or two about a thing or two.
Four, Yellow (and all dogs) have 6 senses and are able to find their way back home when lost. This is how he did it. It's a simple as that.

Yeah I assumed they were not on an island, just "15 miles off" where they live, which is as someone mentioned is Canada I think, so it's that unbelievable the dog travelled that distance to get back home. It's like that film Homewood bound where a similar thing happens.

It's implied that Yellow Dog knows the way home. Angus asked him to lead them home. They were going in that direction.
