Favorite song(s)/moment(s)
I just wondered what other people's favorite songs/moments in the show were (or in the movie, since it is a board for that!) - it seems that different parts touch different people, I think. (Though the whole show is amazing!)
For my part, I love the Overture (in the show), "Try to Remember", "It Depends on What You Pay", "This Plum is Too Ripe", "They Were You", and "Round and Round", for various reasons. (Though "Metaphor", "I Can See It", and "Plant a Radish" are also good, and there really aren't any songs in the show that I *don't* like!)
The Overture is so unique, so different from any other show, I think - partially because there are only two instruments playing, but it's fun, too! "It Depends on What You Pay" is one of the wittiest songs ever written, I think, and "They Were You" has gorgeous harmonies. As for moments, Mortimer's 'death scene' is hilarious, as is when Henry tries to steal the moon. The "fencing lesson" with El Gallo and Matt is pretty funny (though I feel quite sorry for Matt!), and the scene in the 'tree' with Luisa & El Gallo is fun, too, especially with all of his cynical comments. (And her complete innocence to them.) And Lodevigo and Socrates are, of course, one of the funniest bits in the show!
In the movie, I loved the way they staged many of the dance numbers (and I loved the added dance sequence with Luisa and Bellomy - it's a very sweet scene), as well as "This Plum is Too Ripe". And the fencing lesson was pretty amusing during the film as well. I also loved "Plant a Radish", and I wish they hadn't cut it from the film. (Especially the bit with the watering cans - I thought that was really cute!) I also liked the way they did "They Were You" and the reprise of "Try to Remember".
How about everyone else?
"Where's the thump-thump???"
