Netflix subscribers, beware

I just wanted to mention that I received 3 copies of this DVD from Netflix -- count 'em, THREE, one right after another -- and all 3 of them were damaged. The picture broke into pixels (squares) and then would completely stop and black out, then start again at a later time in the movie. Leaving out large portions of the story.

Since Netflix does not have a "real person" that you can talk to at a phone #, I'm mentioning this on this forum just as a warning. All communication with Netflix, if you are a subscriber, is via their website.

And....yes, I've tried other DVDs in my DVD player, and they play just fine. I've also tried playing the damaged DVDs from Netflix -- all 3 copies -- in another DVD player that is more expensive, and again they did not play well. And....I've also tried playing other DVDs from Netflix, and they work well.

If Netflix had a phone # to call, I would call them. Does anyone know of one? I have already tried writing to them, with no response. When I got the 2nd damaged DVD, I was ready to give up and sent it back, writing "Don't send me another copy." They sent a 3rd copy anyway, and as I've said, it was damaged too.

There's a hex on this movieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee........or else Netflix has just received a bunch of crap copies from their supplier and is not addressing that problem. Which, I feel, would be a wise thing for them to do if they want to retain their customers.

Really? I got this movie from Netflix and it was fine. Not to take away from your warning, just to say that there are decent copies out there :)

It's funny you say that. I just watched a copy I got from Netflix last night. It was actually the first undamaged DVD we've gotten from them in a long time. I definitely feel for you, though. I know how frustrating it is to get into a movie and have it pixelate and skip parts.
For future reference, sometimes with Netflix movies it does work to clean them. You have to rub pretty hard, but it works sometimes.

I got this movie form Netflix too, and it did indeed have problems. I managed to get through the whole movie on one of my players, but my top-of-the-line unit wouldn't even load it, my computer froze 6 seconds into it, my portable player went berserk half-way through it...it only worked properly on this one other player I have. And there was no physical damage to the disc, so there's some compatability issue in the manufacturing somehow. This is the only DVD I've had this kind of trouble with as well. If you get it and start experienceing this kind of thing, try it in every player you own and hopefully you'll get lucky with one...it's a hassle though, and I think MGM/UA needs to do a massive recall and replacement campaign on this one.

I realize this is an incredibly old thread but to address not being able to speak to a real person. I don't know about 2007 but there is always a person to answer the phone under: Contact Us. You may have to go thru two screens but you'll get them. Give them the six digit number at the bottom of your screen and you'll get an answer more quickly. Good luck to you.
