the way things are now

For you younger people,
how does it feel to live in a world with no record stores, video stores, no home stereos and very little socializing.
Here's an example of what I mean. When Dazed and Confused was released on VHS, I put my name on a waiting list to buy it. Later it was on DVD in many stores. Specialty music stores and even department stores. When the 2 sountrack cds were released, I bought them immediately. I went to see Everyone Wants Some three weeks ago. If the sountrack is ever released, where will I see it being sold?I suppose only online. And since no one went to see the movie no one will be aware of the soundtrack. And no! buying it online is NOT the same. It's truly a different world from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Sad.

Believe me, it sucks, man. I'm a late 90s kid and all I want is to have been born about 3 decades earlier.

I'm quite happy using amazon and netflix rather than trudge down to Blockbuster to maybe find someone already took that film , then having to return it.

He was talking about the organic experience of being excited about music. The fact that you cited your preference of convenience over the physical endeavor of discovery speaks to the very point he's making. Nobody gets excited about music today like they did in the past. My nieces and nephews are more caught up in the celebrity aspect of their favorite "artists" like Cardi B and Taylor Swift.
