Doom Generation artwork on the VHS box

This is a question I have had for many years: Is the picture on the VHS box a painting or a photograph? It looks a lot like the actors, but certain parts of it, like Rose McGowan's face, don't look like her, her hair looks like a wig. There is also no tattoo on one of the characters that is prominent in the movie. If it is a painting, who did it, because even though it may bot be exact, it is pretty good.

The picture on the back of McGowan looks like she had different hair at the time, so they put a wig that was kinda like Amy Blue's but not. She also looks older in the photo so was there a gap when the film wrapped and when they decided it would be out on film, so they had to reshoot photos for the VHS box?

I hope someone can answer this for me. :)

Check out the 'Trivia' for this movie...they mention
there was a time lapse between when the movie was filmed
and when they did the promo pictures (and cover shots).
