A Heterosexual Movie

I don't understand why this was in the opening credits? I started thinking that X is obviously bisexual and in the end a bunch of nazis come around and sing a poem about wishing gay men would die...

Is this movie basically preaching against being gay?

reply

It says "A Heterosexual Movie" at the start of the movie as a joke because Witer/Director Gregg Araki is Gay.

reply

Yeah, didn't the opening credits for The Living End say "An Irresponsible Movie"?

And I thought Araki was bisexual.

"I'll be in my bunk."

reply

I think that it's a bit more than that. Greg Araki has been pigeon-holed as the leader of a genre known as the "New-Queer" Cinema. It came about because there was a few similarly gay themed movies been released by young gay directors at the same time. I think Greg was stating that this film should be intended for a wider (ie heterosexual) audience.

reply

No to the second question. It's a heterosexual movie compared to the movies Araki made before this.

"I'll be in my bunk."

reply

No, it's just how Araki rolls. At the beginning of Totally *beep* Up it says "A Homosexual Movie".

reply

I laughed when I read that, I knew of Greg Araki though so I picked up on the joke. Truly memorable opening to a film.
