Love this film, and was wondering what others there are like this, hopefully made within the last ten years, as I like newish movies.

Amelie, for example.

Cool. Let me know what you think of them, and I had forgotten to specify on the Kama Sutra one, it´s entire name is Kama Sutra:A Tale of Love. Just so you know and will be spared from some cheesy porno.

Another offbeat postmodern love story is the Spanish film directed by Julio Medem,
Lovers of the Arctic Circle (original in Spanish is Amantes del círculo árctico polar).
Personally I like it better than Don Juan DeMarco.

It is pretty easy to find, and if you find you really like it, then try looking (it will be a little harder) for The Red Squirrel/La ardilla roja by the same director.

Have you seen Chocolat with Johnnie Depp and Juliette Binoche? It's a sweet, romantic film full of charm and interesting characters. The setting is beautiful also, a French village.

And yes, it is sweet and romantic. And beautiful.

I kept thinking that Juliette Binoche was like how Amelie would be after she grew up. Still wanting to help people, spread romance, and give joy to everyone.

And what a cast! Doc Ock, M, Trinity, they're all here!

Bit misleading to have Johnny Depp's face next to Juliette's though, as he has more of a cameo than a starring role. This is Juliette's movie.

More movies like this please, Hollywood.

I haven't seen Amelie yet but it's on my netflix list. I think I need to see Chocolat again; it's been a long time. Definitely don't miss City of Angels like the person above suggested.

Oh! And I just watched Under the Tuscan Sun this weekend. Such wonderful characters and beautiful setting!
