Rejuvenative Properties of Punjab Soil

Among a few other feel-good scenes smothered with patriotism, there was one that stood out - When shah rukh khan picks up a bird shot with a bullet, rubs authentic indian agriculturual soil on it and restores it to life.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really? That's the first time I'm hearing of it. Have you ever tried it? Do people still use it? Acupuncture is an ancient remedy and it is still in use. No such thing as "Rubbing-soil-on-wounds-ology" listed in alternate medicines.

Rubbing soil, which is full of bacteria and other microorganisms, onto a raw wound is THE WORST THING one could possibly do. It's guaranteeing an infection. Whenever any person gets a cut or a scrape, what's the first thing they do? They wash off the wound with clean water to remove the soil and dirt particles. They DON'T rub more dirty soil onto it!

nothing funny about it

You are right. It's not funny....... it's freakin' HILARIOUS! Not to mention pathetic film-making.

Treating gun-shot wounds by rubbing soil on it. PUH-LEEZE!

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

Its not my problem if you're unaware of indian culture history or not. It used to be an ancient way of healing the wounds....other method is urinating on the wound. But no ....you're living in the "pop up the pill" world....why would you be aware of such alternatives. BTW there was a scene in Karate Kid too (New one) ...in which jackie chan was healing the wounds of that kid using some bowls and fire.......But you wont raise an eyebrow on that.....coz Mr. Jackie Chan was doing so...

You know that for a fact? Do you know me personally? Stop making wild accusations.

...why would you be aware of such alternatives.

As a matter of fact, I am very well aware of alternative medicines. A lot more than you. Urinating on jelly fish sting is helpful but not on open wounds. It is not advisable as it can easily cause infection.

The "bowls of fire" that you are talking about is an ancient Chinese healing method that is called "Cupping Therapy" and is still very much in use. I am very well aware of it as well.

I am also well aware of many ancient Indian healing methods such as putting turmeric powder on wounds to disinfect them as well as many others like Ayurveda, yoga etc.

But I have never heard of any treatment which involves putting wet dirty soil on gunshot wounds. If you are so confident of it then show me another example of it. Is there another movie in which it is shown? If it is so popular in Indian culture then surely there must be more examples of it. Do Indian healing centers still use it? Do you personally do that to your wounds? All the other ancient healing methods that I mentioned are still very much in use today.

Your argument is lame. The fact is that since you yourself are an Indian, you get offended anytime someone points out flaws in an Indian movie. Even if the flaw is blatantly stupid and obvious, you will still come up with strange arguments to defend it just because it is "Indian". Grow up!

Ok ....I agree that I did attack on you....but can u please stop picking out each line and replying to it individually...its funny and scary.
Well as for your last part...as a Kid I used to live at my farm which was in a rural part of Inda. I clearly remember getting a bruise once and someone told me to apply hot mud. Also, the father of the director of this film is the guy who ghost directed it...He was( he died) a really old man and he was born and raised in punjab ...so he must be knowing such stuff well.......it was surely not like...he said...heyyyy lets put in a random scene where the guy applies dirt on the wounds of bird (which all of a sudden has become such an important part of the film for you)...

It takes courage to admit one's mistake (especially on a Message Board) and I am impressed that you did. Thank you for that.

I like doing it, as do a lot of people here on IMDB. I'm glad that I was able to simultaneously make you laugh and cower in fear! I should warn you that a lot of people reply in this manner so be on guard!

So because someone gave you that advice you automatically assumed that it is part of ancient Indian Culture? When I was a kid, my friends and I used to apply spit on any scratches that we get but I wouldn't go as far as saying that it is part of my country's Culture. I have heard that sometimes people apply hot clay on non-exposed bruises but that is not the same as applying wet, dirty soil on a gunshot wound.

I believe you are talking about Yash Chopra. Yes, he was born in Punjab and must know a lot of old traditional things but I don't think that means that everything he shows in his movies is 100% accurate. As an example, in his film "Dil To Pagal Hai", he shows Karisma Kapoor dancing so vigorously that her fractured foot starts to bleed and the blood seeps out into the bandage. A bleeding fracture???? That's just ridiculous. She would never have been able to dance for that long if her fracture was as severe as we were made to believe.

(which all of a sudden has become such an important part of the film for you)...

Actually it is you who found it to be very important because you were the first one to defend it in this thread. Truth be told, there is no important discussion here on IMDB. Folks just come here to praise, criticize, debate various aspects of movies.
