Any explanation why Bonnie Bedelia didn't appear in this film?

I can't find any information why she didn't appear in this film. Anyone have any answers? I'm not talking about the character but why she didn't appear. Is it because of choice, and not included in the director's script?

reply

The script wasn't written by the director. It was written by the screenwriter. And it was never written to be a sequel to anything. And even when it was initially bought, they thought of it as a potential Lethal Weapon sequel.

That's not the answer I was looking for, smart ass.

but it's the right answer listen to the commentary track

If you were smart, rather than just an ass, you'd realize my answer was the answer you were looking for.

There's no John McClane's wife because it wasn't written as a Die Hard sequel. Why would Holly McClane be in a screenplay that wasn't a Die Hard movie, genius? It was original. So after a production company decides to use the script as a Die Hard sequel, it's easy to add lines of dialogue about Holly and have him make a phone call to her. It would be much harder to just inject a wife character in this already lengthy screenplay.

You can't find any information about it? Have you looked in the Frequently Asked Questions section? Because it IS a frequently asked (and answered) question.

reply

It only describes her character, not the real life person. Can you NOT see the difference?

reply

Her character was not necessary for the plot.
She was not going to appear as a different character.
What more of an answer do you want?

reply

So they never asked her or anything like that?

reply

Call her yourself and ask her, you troll.

reply

Beautiful. You can't distinguish between a real-life person and a character so when you can't come up with a straight answer, you have the nerve to call her then tell me I'm a troll. Not an argument, but a personal attack, which makes you more worse than I am. Please don't bother answering a question you know nothing about. If I was concerned about her character, then I have no reason to post this board at all. Go somewhere else and do something productive.

reply

Comments toward original poster seem quite harsh. Yes, Holly wasn't written into the script because it wasn't originally a Die Hard script but that doesn't mean the actress couldn't have made an appearance, even just a cameo. I think that's what OP is asking. After all, it would've been re-written a couple more times at least when it became a Die Hard movie.

reply

Yeah, it is sort of sad not seeing her in any more of the films, but maybe she didn't want to do it. Basically, in both situations, she was held hostage. How many more times did you want that?

reply

Maybe she didn't want to do it. She really isn't necessary to the film and actually, no other characters from the first two besides John are in this. No Thornburg, no Powell, etc.

reply

I thought it was dumber that now, after everything they both went thru, they are split up again.
