I wanna see your brains!

I love that scene where Tom Sizemore cuts that white, racist college punk down to size. And so I was kinda disappointed when he turns out to be very bad, himself.

This was a really good movie. I put it on Netflix because I wanted to see something with Denzel Washington, and it did not disappoint, except for how every single white Guy is a creep, kinda like The Color Purple. Sort of like film noir meets liberal guilt trip.

But overall it was excellent. Need to watch it again for that scene, and also to catch more details of the complex plot; I tend to space. Wish Netflix had subtitles!

Yeah, that was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. I hated the fact that Sizemore's character turned out to be a bad guy, but I really loved how he cracked the racist guy who was starting a fight with Easy. Great flick, though and great cast, I remember when this film came out and it was the first time I noticed Don Cheadle. I remembered him from Colors with Robert Duvall & Sean Penn, I remembered him from Rebound and his appearence on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But his role of Mouse, practically stole the movie IMO. Denzel was great as usual but Cheadle was so funny. Between Denzel, Sizemore, Beals, Kinney and Cheadle's performances, it's always been a favorite of mine. Very underrated film.

In my opinion it makes the scene a strong point of the film. Just as you think Albright is defending Easy, he turns out to be as worse as the young man who was tormenting Easy. It is one of many examples from "Devil in a Blue Dress" which highlights the racism of the era.

@blister

Oh,please---why the hell does every film dealing with how racism was in the past get accused of being some damn "liberal guilt trip"? That sounds so stupid,because it isn't. I mean,damn have you ever picked up a history book and found out that white people treated black folks back then like s*** because they could get away with it,the racist laws of that era backed them up no matter what. That was REALITY back then--it didn't have a damn thing to do with "liberal guilt trips." Seriously, you need to educate yourself more about just how bad the times were in that area FOR black people, and stop making such ridiculous statements. And SO what if every white guy in the film is a bad guy? Black people saw themselves portrayed in practically EVERY horrible,ugly racist stereotype ever invented on screen for the first 70 years of the existence of movies. So how is seeing a bunch of white men depicted as thugs somehow racist when its ALWAYS been black people dealing with these stupid,hateful stereotypes for decades, Give me break, enough's enough!

Thank you activista! This was just the reality for black people. Which is why I don't understand when people complain about the portrayal of whites in movies set in certain time periods. I see this all the time especially on these boards. Are they supposed to just gloss over it? They actually usually sugarcoat the racism and mistreatment that many blacks faced back then. At one point, the lowest thing you could be according to society was black, you were less than a dog to many and this wasn't just a slavery issue. The attitudes carried over. How could they not? Even if you you weren't racist or prejudiced by heart or were just indifferent to blacks, chances are you aren't going to go out of your way to make life easier for them. Also you're going to probably conform to societal norms. Things weren't always consistently bad for all black folks, but there are certain attitudes many had to deal with more often than not.
