Saw the Central Avenue set while they were filming.

A guy from the prop department contacted my store and told me he needed old records. I asked him how many and he said "thirty feet". So they sent some guys to my store and bought just about all the old 78 rpm records I had in stock.

They were used in a recreation of a record store. In the film, that store is pretty much on the corner on "Central Avenue" and whatever.

My friend and I drove over there to take a look. The producers had taken over half a block in a crime ridden section of, IIRC, Main Street in downtown LA and they had dressed it as a block of Central Avenue in 1948. It looked great, even up close.

The record store they outfitted was near perfection as to detail. I was looking through the window and it looked *just* like a record store from the late 40s. Sadly, that interior was not used in the final cut of the film. I don't know for sure if *anything* was filmed inside.

As I said, it was filmed in a horrible crime-ridden section of downtown LA and while we were there, some transient woman got stabbed on the street in broad daylight. I barely had time to move my car from the street before getting blocked in by an ambulance and/or firetruck.

If there is a director;s cut of this film, I sure would like to see the inside of that record store!~

That's cool how you were a part of the film, even if it was just a tiny part, lol.
