Banderas' best?

Some may not agree but since Desperado Antonio Banderas hasn't been anywhere near as cool in any movie I've seen him in. This isn't meant to be a knock on him but he played this role pretty much perfectly. It's also a testament to how cool Desperado is overall. I just watched the full movie for the first time in years and it's still every bit as enjoyable.

Buscemi, Tarantino, Hayek, and Danny Trejo were also great. I also love the score/soundtrack, the setting's "Southwest" feel, and the side story with Bucho and his less-than-stellar band of criminals.

Well, I have not seen the movie in a very long time, but I agree with you. In fact, this is one of the best films I have seen; even today. The great thing about Antonio Banders is that he is one of the only actors that can play a character in every genre and be believable. But, I do agree with you in the sense that this is one of his best movies. I also love the way he sings that song a the beginning. This whole movie is just awesome, and every actor played their part perfectly.

I completely agree with OP.

although i will say Desperado ALONG WITH 'Assassins' (1995) are the best Banderas films. both i give a 8/10.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico... was good to (i.e. 7/10) but Banderas seemed to take a back seat in a way to Depp, and while i like Depp, i think they should have given Banderas a larger role since it's basically his film. so in a way it seemed Banderas was sort of a co-lead with Depp instead of the clear lead that he was in Desperado. basically it seemed they downplayed the Banderas character which was a overall bad thing even though i did like the addition of Johnny Depp.

Desperado is also Robert Rodriguez best film to date also ;)

p.s. 'Interview with the Vampire' was a great film to but i don't really look at it to much as a Banderas film. because even though he had moderate screen time it was pretty much more of a Pitt/Cruise film.

Of what I've seen, so far from Matador to The Skin I Live In, The Mask of Zorro is his best film.
