I know the real reason you guys are arguing

Is it possible we like to argue about things we can't control to distract ourselves instead of changing our lives to look more like Sister Helen's? My jaw is dropped by how selfless, caring, and gracious, of a person she was.

I think it might do us all a bit of good to try and be more like her to our loved ones and to people that don't deserve our love.

If only the world was filled with more
Sister Helen's

She's nice and everything, but I think she was way on the wrong track defending that piece of shït. I really felt for the community who actually had a personal stake in this crime (they actually cared about the dead teens), watching this stranger who couldn't care less about the victims remark on how wrong it is that Penn's character should die.

Who said she couldn't care less about the victims? As for Poncelet's position, she's a Nun. The way she see's it the bible teaches 'an eye for an eye' but that vengeance belongs to God. Of course she doesn't believe in the DP.

Hey! You're not old enough to drink! Now go and die for your country!!!

Shes not defending HIM, as much as she's defending "a man's right to breath". No matter what anyone's crime is, or how heinous and flat out evil it may have been....there are two things that she wholeheartedly believes in, without exception. Those are the pro-life belief, and the belief of God's forgiveness. Christians believe, no matter ones sins, and how ugly they may be, that God's forgiveness is available to all of us (if we seek it). **It should go without saying, one has to be genuine when seeking forgiveness- God will know.

She was getting Poncelet to face up and accept the part he played in the deaths of two teenagers and the impact his actions made on the lives of his victims families, on his own family and on his personal predicament. It is because she was caring about the victims and their families, that she got Matt to open up to his involvement. She wasn't defending him or could change what happened, anymore than she could change other peoples attitudes to what was about to happen to Poncelet. That wasn't her role or position as a nun representing the church. How could you have missed this aspect? If it wasn't Prejean as his advisor, would you feel the same way about any other spiritual advisor to a convicted death row inmate?
