The "El Topo" ("The Mole") (1970) by Alejandro Jodorowsky for the 90s?

Hi, did anyone else think that this movie, despite some differences and contrasts, is basically "El Topo" ("The Mole" by Alejandro Jodorowsky) for the 1990s but with enough originality, uniqueness and talent to make it Jim Jarmusch's OWN work and impressive enough to stand on its own?

Come to think of it, did Alejandro Jodorowsky like "Dead Man" or what otherwise did he think of it, thanks.
