Because the only english-friendly edition, the UK one, is certainly a very simple version. Lacks anamorphic transfer, has burned subs on and the film looks a bit too dark and blurry. This film reserves a much better DVD, with plenty of extras and what not.

I don't mind the dark look, i understand it's part of the feel of the film, i just want a better english-friendly DVD version. I think we can all agree this film deserves it.

Those are the types of extras i would also like, i wasn't really talking about adding a bunch of stuff just for the sake of it. Quality over quantity.

The french DVD Release is fine IMHO

I can't get the french version cause I don't speak french. But that dvd is a great example its got plenty of extras spread over two discs including an hour long doc. Now with tarintino calling some attention to it maybe it'll get picked up for a good release but like nearly all Tsui Hark classics, none of them have good releases in America. Iv'e got my fingers crossed for a good release of this, peking opera blues, and especially green snake.
