Hallmark Channel in the US to show 'Daisies' 12/3

"Daisies in December" is scheduled to be broadcast on the Hallmark Channel in the United States on Sunday morning, December 3rd, at 9 AM. The film has been given a two hour time slot, because this channel will air it with commercials.

Please don't miss the opportunity to see this beautiful film with great performances by Joss Ackland, Jean Simmons and a wonderful supporting cast. This film is broadcast too infrequently. Catch it while you can. You won't be sorry. I loved this film from the very first time that it was shown and nothing has diminished it in the eleven years since.

Dear AriesJB4...

I watched the (US) Hallmark Channel presentation of Daisies In December on the morning of 12/3/06. According to my stopwatch, the actual running time of the film itself (minus all of the commercials, promos, miscellaneous bits added by Hallmark) was more like 89 minutes, NOT 98 minutes as given at IMDB.

You have watched the film previously. Would you be able to tell me if the running time shown at IMDB incorrect OR was the 89 minute Hallmark presentation considerably condensed?

I realize that Hallmark shamelessly butchered the end credits by superimposing a promo for Naomi Judd's show, but did Hallmark also cut the movie? The story didn't seem to suffer from any obvious holes.

Thanks!

The Hallmark Channel did edit the movie for time constraints, so that the 98 minute running time is more accurate. After the commercial breaks, when the telecast resumed, a couple of words at the beginning of the sentences were omitted here and there. A scene however was deleted however. Right after Gerald Carmody makes the reservation to join the Tregenna Castle senior trip to St. Michael's Mount, there is a scene (edited out for this broadcast), of him boarding the bus, looking around for a seat, and sitting next to Katherine. She questions him about any hobbies, etc., to which he replies that he likes to set to work in the garden on occasion. He is dressed in his suit and tie, and she asks him about his 'formal' attire, and why does he see fit to wear his tie. He tells her that basically that without it it would be as if he was an unkempt person. That is why she makes a point on the trip when she notices the daisies about the fact that he removed the tie (becoming more casual and letting his guard down), and afterwards when they go for the mystery trip that Derek chauffeurs them on to the seashore, more specifically, "Gerald, you're not wearing a suit!" His retort is, "Or a tie."

I was watching the clock in hopes that the final couple of scenes were left intact, which they were. The first hour or so, the commercials were more spread out. By the second hour, they were coming about every ten minutes or so. I certainly could have done without the hostess' comments right before the conclusion. Leave the film intact and then comment at the end. The end credits in which part of the lovely score would have been played, slowed down just enough to get the last couple of measures. I didn't expect anything more to tell you the truth.

I do wish that one of the other channels, namely Showtime or one of the other commercial free stations would show this. I myself had the tape going yesterday, and for some reason, at the 1:08 mark, the tape stopped. I will just have to wait for a rebroadcast.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to post them.
