Here is a possible reply to your question...it's been some time since I've visited here, and can't remember if I've posted in the past..

I was the co-editor and post production supervisor of the film. I also was supervising editor on NECRONOMICON. I have done many films for Brian Yuzna, and got to know both Mssr Gans and Hadida during the experience of both films.

To the best of my knowledge, since I am no longer in touch with the French team, is that the executive producer was never able to negotiate an appropriately rich enough deal to license the film for N. America after its completion. His stubborness to compromise on making any deal at all has now condemned the film to the category of "never been released", and probably never will be, in N. American.

Interestingly, it play theatrically and was released on video throughout the world, and was pretty well recieved. Its success in Europe especially has ensured mssr Gans further employment, i.e. BHOW, and SILENT SCREAM.

mssr Hadida owns a very large and successful theatrical and video distribution company in France (one of their largest), and has surely by now recouped his investment in CF. However, due to the passage of time, and the fact that the film is old news, no domestic company would pay anything at all other than some token direct-to-video fee, that would be so insulting to the producers, they won't take it out of principal.

So goes the world of internation filmmaking.
