How the HELL did they get away with this??
seriously... how did they manage to rip off the plots, dialogue and even FOOTAGE from the jaws movies without being sued to high heaven???

shareMaybe there's complicated rights issues in foreign places that Universal can't control. Either that or no one really noticed until after it was already filmed. But the latter is unlikely.

The official title for this film in the USA is Jaws 5.
Im 13 and I can hate movies. Deal with it!

Cruel Jaws (Jaws 5) is a bootleg. Honestly there is no way there will ever be an official North America release due to the rampant copyright infringements (unauthorized lifting of scenes from other Jaws movies) not to mention the Star Wars theme that plays during one (so called) action sequence.
Anyway if you want a copy it should not be too hard to find. Not that I am suggesting certain questionable places but you know what I mean!
Cruel Jaws(1995) is bad! It makes Jaws The Revenge(1987) look good! I didn't even know it existed until I saw the Cinema Snob episode.
shareIt's coming to blu-ray in a double feature with Exterminators of the Year 3000 from Scream Factory in March
shareI wonder if it's coming to Blu-Ray, unauthorized clips from Jaws and all. Seeing as how Shout Factory seems to have a good relationship with Universal, it can't have been too hard to get them to okay it. I mean that seems like the main appeal of even releasing this film on Blu-Ray. To have fun with it stealing footage from Jaws.
Porch Monkey 4 Life.
It ain't coming to blu-ray anymore. Scream Factory was unaware of the footage used and unless they edited it out due to legal reasons they dropped it. However Extermintors in the Year 3000 is still on track, but sadly no Cruel Jaws.
shareGreat minds think alike. I came here to point out that a huge percentage of the Cruel Jaws footage was repurposed from The Last Shark—30 to 40 percent—and that both titles steal wholesale from Jaws, and other shark movies. I KNOW I’ve seen another shark movie where some asshole ties a helicopter to a Great White and the helicopter comes off second-best. In terms of stealing shit, this movie is second only to Milton Berle.
In fact, you need to see The Last Shark first in order even to understand Cruel Jaws. Wait! That opening scene! Who are those 2 assholes diving in a cave? Where did those explosives come from?
It’s like The Last Shark is the Rosetta Stone for Cruel Jaws.
Both “films” are currently on tubi.
PS Perhaps in a half-assed effort ti deflect charges of plagiarism, these movies had their resident ichthyologist insist that the killer shark was a Tiger Shark, referring to the “bite radius” criterion established in the real movie—but there is NO Tiger Shark in their pathetic stock footage. It’s all Great White, baby.
Bruno Mattei was the absolute master of the low budget rip off. I love most of the guy’s movies.
