Dermot Mulroney (SPOILERS)

What do you think of Dermot Mulroney in his rookie cop role? I thought his character was charismatic and interesting, and what happened to him was very unexpected, dramatic, and emotionally moving. And his quiet moment with Sigourney Weaver, where he felt he felt he was falling in love with Holly Hunter's character, was extremely heart breaking to see when watching this movie the second time round.
